Carrying the message of recovery to Alcoholics behind the walls

We Need You!!!

If you are looking for a GREAT opportunity to do some VERY important service work for A.A.

HERE IS YOUR CHANCE

In addition to the Bisbee meetings listed below, we are holding 1 meeting a week at the Gila unit at the main ADC Facility north of Douglas on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM. Also we are sponsoring a Mon. 6:00 PM meeting at the Papago DUI facility on Hwy 80 in Douglas. The clearance process has been streamlined by the ADC to facilitate more volunteers. Suggested requirements are 3 years of recovery and 1 year free from supervisory action, probation or parole.

Attendance by the inmates has grown by leaps and bounds. More volunteers are always needed to keep up with the
desire coming from those behind the walls in their interest in our program of recovery.

ON THE INSIDE

The Corrections Facilities committee of Cochise County District needs men and women who are willing to commit to chairing a panel for the A.A. meetings at the jail in Bisbee on Wednesday or Saturday.

The suggested service commitment is one meeting a month for 6 months, but we can use any and all help available.

Wed - Men's/Women's meeting 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Sat - Men's meeting 3:00pm - 4:00pm

HERE ARE THE 4 SIMPLE STEPS THAT YOU NEED TO TAKE:

1. To volunteer for a monthly commitment, contact the Correctional Facilities Chairperson at:

2. Fill out the required form that you will get from the Correctional Facilities Chairperson.

3. Go to the Sheriff's Department at Hwy 92 & Foothills Drive in Sierra Vista, Monday thru Friday 8am to 10am or 2pm to 4pm - or the Bisbee County Jail at 203 N. Judd, Tuesday thru Friday 9am to 3pm and get fingerprinted. Tell them you are getting printed for access into the jail for the A.A. meetings, and they will waive the charge. If, to your knowledge, you have any outstanding warrants or fines, PLEASE do not do this, or you will be attending the meeting in the jail instead of chairing the meeting!!

4. Take the form you have filled out, along with your fingerprint card, to the Bisbee County Jail the day or night you will be attending the meeting. Give the information to them and you are in! And also out again after the meeting!!

FROM THE OUTSIDE

We are in need of A.A. members on the “outside” to correspond with A.A. members in correctional facilities.

It is suggested that men correspond with men and women with women. Most of the inmates who want an outside correspondent are men, so we are appealing to men on the outside.

If you would like to share your experience, strength and hope with A.A.s who are confined, a form is available for download from the GSO website under:

Information by Service Activity

Look for the link under "Correctional Facilities", titled "Corrections Correspondence Service".  Right click this link (mac users = option+click) and choose "Save Target As".  This will prompt you to download the form to your home computer. Print the form and fill it out, then mail the tear-off portion of the form to G.S.O.’s Correctional Facilities Desk.

The name of an inmate will be sent to you from your General Service Office and you will make the initial contact through the mail.

Those who have participated in this service have found sharing with inmates a very gratifying form of Twelfth Step work. We are happy to know there are A.A. members like you willing to help make it possible for the A.A. message to be carried to those on the “inside.”
